Fitness CenterRediscovering the Fitness Center

It seems to me that damage manages to show up right away but benefits take a lot longer to be realized. At least that's the case presented by my scale. My weight has inched it's way back up above 260 pounds again and my behavior celebrating weddings and Seahawk victories in recent weeks is the most likely cause. I don't feel bad about the temporary set back, but I sure wish the exercise that I've been doing would show up as a counter balance. I suspect it will eventually - just not this week.

Now that daylight saving time is about to expire and the weather has returned to chilly Northwest winds and rain, I've moved my daily exercise indoors. Last week, I rediscovered the newly remodeled and equipped fitness center at PEMCO headquarters where I work. It's a great convenience and the equipment is available most of the time. My plan is to use the facility at least 3-4 times each week in the evening after work. Throw in an occasional outdoor walk and an elliptical session at home, and the exercise will be covered pretty well. Unfortunately the scale doesn't reward me for the effort in the same week that I do the work. But it will eventually. I've been down this road before and have experienced my share of plateaus and minor setbacks. It only matters when it starts to get my spirit down. And I'm a long way from that.

Here I come scale. And you're going down!!
