Week 40 - 06/07/12

When they say - "You're pant's don't fit you anymore"
they really mean "You look really good today"

can't button

Have you ever pulled on a favorite pair of pants only to find that they were a little harder to zip and button? If you know what that feels like then you know how disappointing it can be.

It's at times like that when we tend to make outrageous commitments to start another new and improved diet or to join the local health club for a few good workouts each week. Those are the times when we would make a deal with the devil for a little extra space to move around in.

And the deal seldom works.

So imagine my surprise and delight when I slipped into a pair of my newest pants this morning and found that they not only zipped and buttoned, but seemed to be hanging a little lower and with a lot more room in the waist. You may remember my story in week nineteen about finally fitting into a size 42. Well today the size 42’s were too big.

You look really good

I reached for the belt that I purchased back then and cinched in so that it was snug but not too tight. The waist of my pants pulled together like it was a drawstring in a laundry bag. My pants stayed up and on, but it was clear that I was in a size too big.

I didn’t have time to dig out the box of clothes with the new sizes, so I did the best I could to make things look right and headed to the office. Within a few hours I received two comments about my pants being too big or not fitting me just right. No offense was intended or taken. They were compliments from friends who knew of my journey.

In this, the 40th week of reporting on my efforts, I’m happy to share that I've lost 8-10 inches in my waist and that I’m less than a pound away from having lost 65 pounds. (I was there for a day or two but bounced back up on weigh-in day).
