Fat

Almost There!

When I burn off two remaining balls of fat - like the two in the picture - I will achieve my goal for the first year of the healthy edge journey. How amazing is that!

This post marks the fiftieth week during which I've written about my journey toward a healthier life and commitment to finding the healthy edge... for me.  To be more accurate, it has been fifty weeks of effort and forty-five weeks of writing. For one reason or another, I missed reporting in five times. (Would you consider that a 90% success rate or a 10% failure rate? I prefer the positive view myself).

I've learned a lot about myself since I began the journey. I better understand what motivates me, what I'm capable of, and what I can live with and without. I plan to recap those lessons for you and for myself when I make the turn into year two. Today, I simply want to share a prospective.

brick v fat
Look again a the two ugly lumps of fat in the picture. It's hard to believe that so many of us are walking around with so much of that spread throughout our body. The five pound lump is equal to the weight of a standard sized brick. Imagine carrying fourteen five-pound bricks with each daily step you take. That's the situation I was in less than a year ago.

As of this morning (different than my official Thursday weigh-in date referenced below) I have released 69.4 pounds of fat. I don't know where it went exactly, but I know that I'm happy that it's gone. My goal for the year was to gain a healthier life... and to reduce my weight by seventy-five pounds within a year. With less than two weeks left it's going to be tough, but there's not a finish line to this journey. I'll simply carry my new found momentum - and a lot fewer bricks - into year two.
