Week 14 - 12/08/11

HO HO HOpe I make it through The Holidays!

Some things just don't change. The "thing" that I notice more this year than I did in the past, is that everyone likes to eat, drink, and be merry during the holiday season.

And it doesn't matter where you go.

Caramel Apple med
Yesterday, at a Washington DECA board meeting, I received the biggest and most amazing caramel apple from The Pearl Hunter that I have ever seen. It's bigger than a full sized softball and is covered with layers of caramel, toffee, and white chocolate drizzel. I'm pretty sure that it isn't a lo-cal healthy apple. But it sure looked good.

Today, I attended a holiday party with colleagues from PEMCO. We had a great time and the wine, appetizers, crackers, cheeses, and all the rest was fantastic. At least there was a tray of veggies to much on.

And so it goes.  On the counters outside my office is a perpetual offering of chocolates and other seasonal treats. There will be potluck luncheons, trays of delicious homemade cookies and pies, and the list goes on and on.

That's why I appreciate the friends that help me  remember the journey that I'm on.  They help me think before I chew.  And I hope they know I appreciate it.

This morning, when I looked in the mirror, I paused and recognized a man I hadn't seen for awhile. I looked noticeably different... at least to me.  And I liked the feeling of accomplishment that came when I stepped onto the scale.

I know it won't be easy, and I'm not going to deprive myself of all the little pleasures that food brings to the holidays, but I'm going to make it into the new year feeling like I'm making good choices... and that I have great friends. (Down another 1.4 pounds for the week!)

Happy holidays everyone!
